Livheal acts directly in the liver by stimulating THR-β receptors, thereby improving important hepatic processes and helping to reduce fibrosis. Livheal also improves lipid metabolism, including reducing intrahepatic triglycerides and free fatty acids, and helps reduce liver inflammation. These effects help address factors contributing to disease progression, limit liver damage, and improve overall liver health. The FDA also states that resmetirom activates THR-β in the liver, helping to reduce the accumulation of liver fat.
Indications
Livheal is indicated, in conjunction with diet and exercise, for the treatment of adults with noncirrhotic nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with fibrosis stages F2 to F3).
