Each vial contains 2.1190 g of cefepime for injection, equivalent to 1 g of cefepime (in the form of a mixture containing not less than 47.2% cefepime hydrochloride with L-arginine).
Cefepime is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic that is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including strains resistant to aminoglycosides or third-generation cephalosporins.
Cefepime is highly resistant to hydrolysis caused by many beta-lactamases. It has reduced affinity for chromosomally mediated beta-lactamases and rapidly penetrates the cells of Gram-negative bacteria.
Indications
Ultrapim injection is indicated for the treatment of the following infections:
- Pneumonia (nosocomial and community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, and secondary bacterial infection of acute bronchitis)
- Mild and complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis)
- Skin and subcutaneous tissue infections
- Severe intra-abdominal infections
- Empirical treatment in febrile neutropenic patients
