Tirzepatide
Antidiabetic Agents – GIP/GLP-1 Receptor Agonist

Each 0.5 mL contains 7.5 mg of tirzepatide.

Tirzepatide is both a GIP receptor and GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is a modified peptide consisting of 39 amino acids and contains a C20 fatty acid diacid group. This structure facilitates binding to albumin and prolongs its half-life. Tirzepatide selectively binds to and activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which are the targets of the naturally occurring GIP and GLP-1 hormones. In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, tirzepatide reduces fasting and postprandial glucose levels, decreases food intake, and reduces body weight.

Indications

For the treatment of adults with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus, as an adjunct to diet and physical activity:

  • As monotherapy when metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindications;
  • In combination with other medicinal products for the treatment of diabetes mellitus.

For weight management, including weight loss and maintenance of weight, in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity:

In adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of:

  • ≥ 30 kg/m² (obesity); or
  • ≥ 27 kg/m² to < 30 kg/m² (overweight), who have at least one weight-related comorbidity (e.g., hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes mellitus).
