Each tablet contains 200 mg of mifepristone and 0.2 mg of misoprostol.
Mifepristone is a synthetic steroid with antiprogestational activity as a result of its competition with progesterone at progesterone receptors. In cases of early termination of pregnancy, the use of a prostaglandin analogue in combination with mifepristone in a sequential regimen increases the rate of successful outcomes to up to 95% and facilitates the expulsion of the embryo.
Misoprostol is an analogue of naturally occurring prostaglandin E₁ (PGE₁) that helps promote the healing of peptic ulcers and provides symptomatic relief.
Indications
