Each ampoule (2 mL) contains: Monosialotetrahexosylganglioside Sodium (as the sodium salt) – 20 mg
Gangliosides belong to the category of glycosphingolipids containing sialic acid that are present in mammalian cell membranes. Their concentration is particularly high in the nervous system. Gangliosides are components of neuronal cell membranes and play an important role in their development, growth, and differentiation. In addition, gangliosides are essential for the repair of cells following injury, as they contribute to their regeneration. They also stimulate the formation and growth of synapses, restore innervation function, improve nerve conduction, stimulate the electrical activity of the brain, and normalize other neurophysiological parameters.
They protect cell membranes and stimulate the restoration of certain types of enzymatic activity.
The preparation is one of the major gangliosides that plays an important role in the treatment of disorders of the central nervous system. It also supports the activity of the Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase and Ca²⁺/Mg²⁺-ATPase enzymes in the cell membranes of the central nervous system, thereby maintaining the balance of ion influx into and efflux from cells; it reduces neuronal swelling and prevents the accumulation of intracellular calcium ions. Maviks-GM counteracts neurotoxicity and reduces the damaging effects of free radicals on other nerve cells.
Thus, monosialotetrahexosylganglioside has the ability to stimulate the recovery of the nervous system (nerve remodeling and neuroplasticity), accelerate nerve regeneration by activating various structural, biochemical, neurophysiological, and behavioral parameters, and restore nervous system function to the maximum possible extent.
Indications
Monosialotetrahexosylganglioside sodium is indicated for the treatment of disorders and injuries affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems, including:
- Traumatic brain injury;
- Spinal cord injury;
- Cerebrovascular disorders (including impairment of cerebral circulation);
- Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease.
