Moxifloxacin
Moxifloxacin is an antibacterial preparation that belongs to the fourth generation class of fluoroquinolone group, and it has a bactericidal effect. It is considered active against a wide spectrum of Gram positive (Corynebacterium species, Micrococcus luteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus hominis, Staphylococcus warneri, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus viridans) and Gram negative microorganisms (Acinetobacter iwoffi, Haemophilus influenzae Haemophilus parainfluenzae), anaerobes, acid fast and atypical bacterias. The mechanism of action of antibacterial activity is the inhibition of topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV.
Indications
Bacterial conjunctivitis caused by moxifloxacin-sensitive microorganisms.
